RECYCLING CODE OF PRACTICE - ROTORUA COMMUNITY ICT TRUST

(Based on the National Computer Recyclers Code of Practice - www.canz.org.nz/practice.htm)


Our commitment to the donor:

All equipment donations will be receipted.

All donors will be provided with a copy of this document.

All identifying marks will be removed from donated equipment.

All hard drives will be tested for usability and either physically destroyed or totally erased using Unconditional Formatting, including deletion of partition and file tables.

Refurbished computers will only be sold to Rotorua-based community groups or community organisations or be used for Rotorua-based community projects.

Details of all computers donated, refurbished, on-sold or other otherwise disposed of will be recorded in a database for the purpose of public transparency.

Some parts such as floppy drives which are not needed for the refurbishing process may be sold through other channels to raise funds or defray costs.

All remaining parts will be disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.


Our commitment to the recipient:

The recipient will be provided with a written specification for all equipment.

The recipient will be provided with a valid copy of any operating system licence legally required.

All equipment received has a three-month return to base warranty.

Except to the extent otherwise required by law, the Rotorua Community ICT Trust has no liability beyond the warranty provided.
